About the maker
The Shanghai Baile Musical Instrument Company was formed in 1951. Workers assembled a 12-bass accordion called White Parrot in 1952. The business later became Shanghai Accordion Factory, retaining the Baile mark.
The old factory stopped production in 2003. In 2023, a workshop run by former factory staff received authorization to use the Baile name again for custom-made accordions. The illustrated vintage piano accordion shows a later example of the brand.
