About the maker
An Italian maker chronology records Dr. Marcello Bastari in Ancona from 1952 to 1991. The International Concertina Association places the start of his concertina making between 1949 and 1952, and names Stagi, Brunner and Concertine Italia as successors.
The Association's collection documents both Anglo and English-system Bastari concertinas. Its maker directory also lists Concertine Italia as a later producer of Bastari- and Stagi-branded instruments.
