Dino Saluzzi was born in Argentina's Salta province in 1935 and learned bandoneon music from his father. His compositions draw on the region's folk traditions as well as tango.
His first ECM solo album, Kultrum, was recorded in 1982 and released the following year. He later worked with jazz and chamber ensembles. On the 2025 album El Viejo Caminante his bandoneon joins the classical guitar of his son José María and Jacob Young’s acoustic and electric guitars. Their programme includes original pieces touching on tango, Argentine folk music and jazz.
