Frank Marocco worked both as a jazz accordionist and a Los Angeles studio musician. From the 1960s onward, his accordion was heard on recordings for film and television as well as on albums under his own name.
The studio work called for versatility across styles; his jazz records give more space to improvisation. In Be-bop Buffet he joins fellow accordionist Simone Zanchini, putting two accordions in conversation. The book Jazz on the Road documents his career and Hollywood studio work through photographs and interviews, with three CDs of solo and ensemble recordings. Alongside studio work, he left a record of his music in duo albums and this illustrated book.
