Ksenija Sidorova was born in Riga, Latvia, and began studying accordion at six. She studied with Marija Gasele before moving to London’s Royal Academy of Music. She now works as a visiting professor there and performs with leading orchestras, while also championing new works written for her instrument.

Her Deutsche Grammophon album Carmen (2016) recasts Bizet’s music for accordion. Piazzolla Reflections followed in 2021, placing the bandoneon composer’s music within her classical repertoire. She has collaborated with the NHK Symphony Orchestra and premiered new accordion concertos. Through recordings, commissions and orchestral work she expands the instrument’s place in concert music.
