Pierre Monichon was a French writer and researcher of accordion history and construction. His Petite histoire de l’accordéon appeared in 1958, tracing the instrument's origins and development. He continued gathering material and published L’Accordéon in 1971 and 1985, placing instrument types and playing cultures in a historical account.

He also prepared instructional material, including a 1997 method for the harmonéon, the French concert accordion. After his death, Alexandre Juan and others continued work on his research, leading to a further publication in 2012. His books preserve evidence of makers and performers and offer a way to study the accordion as a cultural history.
