Silvio Scandalli established an accordion-making business in Camerano, Italy. In the 1910s he and his brothers began making instruments in a workshop at home and grew Scandalli into a large factory. The accordion museum in Castelfidardo highlights a 1929 instrument and credits him with an ergonomic keyboard shape that players welcomed.
By 1941 the factory employed more than 700 people. After the war, Scandalli helped unite three local companies in 1946 to establish FARFISA. In the early 1950s he worked with company technicians on the high-end Super VI model. His work joined instrument design, factory production and cooperation across the Marche accordion industry.
